Functional & Decorative Ceramic Art

J. Cole Ceramics is the result of the creative outlet of Julie and John Cole. We are a wife/husband duo that found a mutual love of pottery and decided to share it with others. Our work mainly focuses on functional and decorative items such as mugs, bowls, plates, vases and more. We also like to create items that spark our interest or challenge us in the moment. You will likely see Julie make other items such as votives, lanterns and incense burners while John likes to make items like large bowls, platters and ceramic instruments such as the Udu, a clay drum originating from Africa that produces a bass tone but with a water droplet sound (can you imagine it?).

Our work involves everything from hand building techniques to wheel-throwing. We use a variety of clays such as stoneware, B-Mix or porcelain. Most of our work is fired at Cone 10 (approx. 2300 degrees) in a reduction kiln. Our studio is located in Lenexa, KS but you might see around the Kansas City Metro at upcoming events around the city.

Thank you for taking the time to browse our work. We hope you enjoy the variety of items we have made and hope some may become part of your world as well.
